CRITICAL INFRASTRUCTURE AND KEY RESOURCES

The Critical Infrastructure and Key Resources (CIKR) sector identifies, analyzes and shares information about threats to the 16 critical infrastructure sectors including those that are accidental, intentional or natural in nature, man-made intentional, or natural disasters.

“Critical Infrastructure are systems and assets, whether physical or virtual, so vital that the incapacity or destruction of such systems and assets would have a debilitating impact on security, national economic security, national public health or safety, or any combination of those matters. Key Resources represent our National heritage, political power and American lifestyle.”

Indicators of Suspicious Activity

  • Suspicious drone activity or photography at or around chemical/energy facilities
  • Cyber threats
  • Phishing messages
  • Loitering around ATMs or banks
  • Dumping trash or releasing materials into the air, in waterways, or along transportation routes
  • Purchasing of bomb-making materials like black powder, fertilizers, pipes, etc.
